Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
1. What types of projects does Maison Bleu Designs take on?
We specialize in residential interiors, including:
New construction homes (from selections to full furnishing)
Whole‑home or multi‑room projects
Kitchen, bath, and key living spaces
Furnishing and styling for existing homes
Virtual e‑design for clients outside our immediate area
If you are unsure whether your project is a fit, you can always reach out and share a few details—we’ll let you know the best way to work together.
2. What is the difference between a design consultation and full‑service design?
A design consultation is a focused working session—usually 60–90 minutes—where we walk your space, answer questions, give recommendations, and outline next steps. You’ll walk away with clarity and a professional perspective.
Full‑service design is a comprehensive engagement: we handle concept, sourcing, selections, ordering, project coordination, and final styling. It’s ideal if you want a finished space and prefer not to manage all the details yourself.
3. How does the design process work from start to finish?
Our process is structured but flexible:
Inquiry & Discovery Call – You submit our inquiry form, and we schedule a short call to understand your project, budget, and timeline.
Design Consultation – We meet in your home or virtually, review your space, and discuss your goals in detail.
Design Phase – We develop concepts, floorplans, and selections, then present them for your feedback and approval.
Procurement & Coordination – Once approved, we place orders, track deliveries, and coordinate with trusted trades as needed.
Installation & Styling – We oversee installation and style the final details so you can walk into a finished, ready‑to‑enjoy home.
4. I don’t know my “style.” Is that a problem?
Not at all. Most clients don’t have a label for their style—and they don’t need one.
We’ll ask questions, review inspiration images, and pay attention to what you’re naturally drawn to. From there, we translate your preferences into a cohesive, livable design that feels like you, not like a trend.
5. What should I expect to invest in interior design?
Every project is different, but there are two main cost categories:
Design fees – Our professional time for concepts, drawings, sourcing, and project management.
Furnishings & finishes – Furniture, lighting, rugs, window treatments, decor, and any materials or trades.
We discuss budget early and often so we can recommend the right level of service and make product choices that align with your comfort level. During your consultation, we’ll provide a clearer investment range based on your specific project.
6. Do you work with existing furniture and decor?
Yes, absolutely. Many projects blend existing pieces with new items. During our walkthrough, we’ll identify which pieces can stay, which should move to other areas, and where it makes sense to invest in something new. Our goal is to make the most of what you already have while elevating the overall look and function.
7. How long does a typical project take?
Timelines vary based on scope, product availability, and construction schedules, but generally:
Single room furnishing projects: ~8–12 weeks
Multi‑room or whole‑home furnishing: ~12–20+ weeks
New build / renovation design: Usually runs alongside your construction schedule and can begin months before breaking ground
We’ll give you a more specific timeline after we understand your project and vendor/trade availability.
8. What is E‑Design / Virtual Styling, and how is it different from full‑service design?
E‑Design / Virtual Styling is a remote service. We work together via photos, measurements, and video calls. You receive:
A custom design concept and mood board
A floorplan or layout suggestion
A curated shopping list with links
Styling notes and implementation guidance
You handle purchasing and installation at your own pace. In full‑service design, we purchase, track, coordinate, and install everything for you.
9. Do you only work on large projects, or can you help with just one room?
We’re happy to work on both, as long as we’re a good fit. Many clients start with key spaces—like the living room, kitchen, or primary suite—and then phase in additional rooms over time. During our discovery call, we’ll determine whether a single‑room, phased, or whole‑home approach makes the most sense.
10. Do you work with clients outside of your local area?
Yes. For clients outside our in‑person service area, we offer E‑Design / Virtual Styling.
You’ll receive the same level of thought and detail in the design, and you’ll implement the plan using our guidance. If you are unsure whether your project qualifies for virtual services, just ask—we’ll let you know your options.
11. Can you work with my builder or contractor?
Yes, we frequently collaborate with builders, contractors, and trades. We can:
Review plans and elevations
Provide finish and fixture specifications
Coordinate design details so the end result matches the vision
Ideally, we’re brought in early, so design decisions and construction decisions stay aligned.
12. How are purchases handled? Can I shop on my own?
For full‑service projects, we typically handle purchasing and order management on your behalf. This allows us to control quality, manage lead times, and ensure everything works together.
For E‑Design and some consulting‑level projects, you’ll receive a curated shopping list with links so you can purchase directly. We’ll be clear about which structure we’re using before we begin so expectations are aligned.
13. Do you offer payment plans?
We generally structure projects with:
An initial retainer or design fee to begin
Progress payments at key milestones
Full payment in advance for furnishings before orders are placed
If you need a specific payment structure for a larger project, we can discuss options during your consultation and outline everything clearly in your proposal.
14. What if I don’t like something in the design?
Design is a collaborative process. Your feedback is not only welcome—it’s essential.
Our proposals include time for revisions so we can refine selections together. We’ll talk through what’s working, what isn’t, and adjust until the design feels right for you and your home.
15. How do I get started with Maison Bleu Designs?
The best way to begin is to submit our Project Inquiry Form on the Contact page. Share a few details about your home, your goals, and your timing. We’ll review, follow up with a brief discovery call, and recommend the best next step—usually a design consultation to get the process started.
